Thursday Luncheons - Update

Due to the decline in attendance, the executive board has decided to scale back on the weekly Thursday lunches. The new schedule will be effective immediately.

The lunches will be held on the Thursdays following the general meetings, typically the first Tuesday of each month, and on Thursdays following the active membership meeting, typically the third Tuesday of each month.

The times will remain the same, from 11:30am to 1:00pm.

All active, on duty personnel are invited to eat free of charge. All others are asked for a free will donation to help defray the costs of the food.

We are hoping an increase in attendance will allow us to reinstate the weekly schedule.

Thank you for understanding our decision in this matter.

Circa 1993-94, brought the initial scholarship initiative to NC FOP Lodge 10. From its simple beginning, it has grown and developed into a highly successful program.

The first fund raising campaign in support of the program was a golf tournament that was held at the Lakewood Golf Club in Statesville. The event was held in honor, and in the memory of Statesville PD’s first K-9 officer, Nelson Hollar, who had passed away after a courageous battle with cancer.

Because of its growing success, in 2001-02, a committee was formed to refine and administer the program, as we see it today. New criteria was established to give the opportunity for a wider recipient base. Virtually all members of the lodge and their families are given priority. In addition, all seniors at our local high schools are encouraged to participate in the selection process.
